A Visit to Kualoa Ranch

In late October, I was fortunate enough to have returned to Kualoa Ranch in Kaneohe, Hawai’i with a few of my friends to participate in yet another one of their adventures that they offer. A private nature reserve with 4,000 acres of land, is full of adventure and possibilities.

The land contains a working cattle ranch with over 600 head of cattle, 200 sheep, and 120 horses, as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range and Kaneohe Bay. For those movie lovers out there, this location has been the film site for over 70 different Hollywood films, including Jurassic Park, Jumanji, and 50 First Dates. Commonly referred to in Hollywood as “Hawaii’s backlot,” Kualoa Ranch never ceases to amaze me each time that I visit.

I myself have participated in the Jurassic Jeep Jungle Expedition tour and the Hollywood movie sites tour at Kualoa. Alongside those options, there are also ATV Tours, horseback riding, and zip lining adventures. On the Hollywood Movie Sites Tour you will visit various well-known movie sets and sites. This includes the iconic Jurassic Valley, the snake pit scene from Jumanji, and the indominus rex cage set from Jurassic World. Props from movies, such as the giant lizard eggs from the film Journey to the Mysterious Island and the huge foot imprint from King Kong found in the movie Kong: Skull Island, are just a few that you might get to see.

When I returned a month ago, the Jungle Jeep Expedition tour became my new favorite activity to do at Kualoa Ranch. I hopped aboard a jeep with some friends and a tour guide as we went speeding and off-roading throughout the mystical sites of the land. We were able to walk through the Indominus Rex Cage set from Jurassic World, see the crash site of a helicopter from Kong: Skull Island, and got to take a few pictures along the way. Towards the end of the tour, we had the opportunity to take a short hike high up in the mountains of Kualoa. In simplest terms, it is one of the best and most prettiest views of Kualoa Ranch and Oahu in general.

So, if you ever get the chance to swing by Kualoa Ranch and participate in one of their many adventure tours, I would definitely recommend doing so. Each time that I go back, every tour seems to surprise me in a positive way and I see and learn many new things along the way. Have fun and be safe, because sometimes the dinosaurs escape from their cages...
